Life’s funny that way. Got me wobbling over to the laptop to click a poll. Fingers crossed it’s a bot/dupe account hunt.

I’m about 99% sure it isn’t. I think he genuinely views it as a kind of election.

I do think he should be involved at Twitter but he should probably give the CEO job to a guy like Sriram Krishnan.

Please, spare us the Elon kid made-up stories. The guy has ten of them: https://pagesix.com/article/elon-musk-children/

How often do you think he sees any of them?

He bought Twitter so he could shitpost all he wants, and be acclaimed by his fellow shitposters.

That's all there is to it.

So he spent $44 billion in the name of evil? The same guy who risked it all to build an electric car company and make re-useable rockets?

Not saying there’s a direct line between the airplane tracker and that dumbass jumping in his kids car. Merely that it is plausible he believed there was a connection.

I’m sure he doesn’t see his kids as often as he should. I literally think that’s at the root of the problem. He sees himself as the savior of mankind and has cut away all the support structures away from himself that keep people steady.

Not in the name of evil, no. In the name of being the boss, the guy in charge, the one calling the shots, the dude to whom everyone would look up and have to ask permission from. Which is why he re-instated some very sketchy dudes (who would be grateful and do what he says), but not gender-critical feminists like Kara Dansky. It's why he banned journalists whose only connection to the plane tracker was to write articles about it (and it was most definitely news). And then Taylor Lorenz, who didn't even write about it! (I am no fan of Lorenz for other reasons, but still.) And then, after hand-picking Bari Weiss to report on the twitter files, he bashed her for not sucking up hard enough.

Musk is NOTHING LIKE that nice CEO you wrote about. He is an egomaniac, and his undoubted successes are due to that egomania. But his egomania also leads him to stuff like incessantly lying about the self-driving ability of Teslas, which has gotten people killed.

You take people as a package deal. I bet that he’s got a bit of an ego problem because if he didn’t he would never have tackled the problems he has. There were no mass marker electric cars before he came on the scene. No reusable rockets in sight either. You can’t say nothing good has ever come of it.

I bet part of him thought if he just took over as a wise king while he built in transparency mechanisms that everyone would be grateful. I work on features like this and max speed to deliver something like that is months, probably at least six. Probably more. And that’s when you have a test environment. They don’t.

He made some calls I wouldn’t have made and that’s the whole point. Humans aren’t a problem to be solved. We are a bundle of contradictions to be managed. The arguments we have never stop, they just evolve.

That being said I don’t fault him for having faults. At least he tried.
