My mother's mother did this, but naturally. She would do calligraphy, using both hands, to write from either end of the same sentence, or to write two lines with one hand each, or to do things in reverse. It would be cool to do that, but I'm not recovering from a breakup.

Cool story... thanks for sharing it! (I'm ambidextrous, left-hand dominant)

Did she play piano by chance?

Expand full comment

I don't know. She died when I was 4, and I know very little about her. There wasn't a piano in her home, but that might have been financial.

The reason I asked is because another reader was much better at it than baseline and attributed it to piano. Your grandma was way impressive.

I wish I'd known her better, for sure. <3

Reading this has somehow rewired a part of my brain symbioticly? Alchemically? I'm definitely smiling more. Temporarily? I'll keep you posted.

And one thousand thank yous. ( typed on a qwerty keyboard with my left/non-dom thumb only) xx

Wizardry!

You are WAY more dedicated than me! In high biology class I was bored senseless, so I took notes with my non-dominant (left) hand. I did both mirror writing (my first step) and then simultaneous writing (second step) to teach my left hand how to make the shapes. Then moved on to writing with just my left hand. I can still do mirror writing but my regular writing with my left hand looks like a second grader did it 😂 the idea of writing two unrelated thoughts, one from each hand? That hurts my brain. I must see a video too!

double high five

I’ve been practicing back up so I can do a good video this weekend. Some of this stuff erodes so quick.

I’m good for now until I figure out how to set something up with a little bit more anonymity.

The lady brown dog? Read (write) CAREFULLY. This comes from the article above.

Confused. Yes, ONE character, ONE time.
