Given the "internet browsing: disabled" bit attached to every session given to ChatGPT, I suspect they're intending to add something similar to what you're suggesting in the future.
I’m guessing this is close to how they are going to do the Bing integration that was just announced, although multiplying the traffic to chat gpt by multiples is probably not ideal.
I have to say I was genuinely surprised this got so much better so quickly as I wasn’t as impressed by gpt3 (although still thought it was cool). Nervous to see how well gpt4 does.
