Something I'm confused by: I thought AI in this universe couldn't be used for war, but here it says it can be used to aid rifle aim (or is that only for when not shooting people, which is why this rifleman can't use it? Or was the no-violence thing only logos?)
So before the giant emp blast (it wasn’t really an emp but we’ll get to that next bit) LOGOS supervised *everything* on Earth. People would train with rifles and ostensibly really act like an army but it was more for traditional purposes. LOGOS would let you hit a target in simulation and in practice and people did it because they always talked about what if LOGOS went down but the things people did use their guns for like hunting all relied on a nudge. It would be illegal to own a gun without one as a safety mechanism so that LOGOS could make sure you didn’t accidentally kill someone. The only people who would have guns without a nudge are guys like this who loved their whole lives in space where the surveillance envelope wasn’t totally closed.
